Habitat for Humanity
Picture
Lisburn Gracecom is pleased to be a Prayer Partner with Habitat Ni.

The powerful, prayerful support of many church partners has been central to Habitat’s work since it began in 1994. Habitat is about more than building houses. It is about demonstrating the love of God through practical action. It is Christian faith that motivates their mission. They witness the power and love of Jesus each time they build a house, strengthen a community and make people aware of families in need.
Habitat offers many opportunities to build the Kingdom and express God’s love by putting faith in action and helping those in need.

Prayer
The powerful prayers of many faithful supporters underpin Habitat’s work every day at home and around the world. Prayer keeps faith at the centre of a call to service and justice. Download Habitat latest prayer points here.

Habitat’s vision for Humanity is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
One in four people in our world live in poor housing. Families are forced to live in places that are cold and damp, overcrowded or do not have a door that locks.
Simple homes save lives. Families are healthier, children do better in school and parents have a chance to earn a stable income.
Every day, Habitat for Humanity works beside families to build, renovate or repair their home in 70 countries around the world.

In Northern Ireland, Habitat brings people together from across the community to serve the most vulnerable. It raises funds to support long-term partner programmes in some of our world’s poorest communities.
Habitat is a Christian housing organisation which welcomes people of all faiths and none to help build a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Jenny Williams, Chief Executive of Habitat NI, said: “Over the past 20 years, more than 28,000 volunteers have joined Habitat NI in mission to build a shared and sustainable future. In our experience working beside local communities, when volunteers from different backgrounds engage in practical projects, barriers are broken down and meaningful relationships developed based on mutual respect.

Volunteer Opportunities 2019

Big Build: 4th - 14th October 2019
Big Build 2019 will build 10 homes in one week, supporting our long-term partnership with Habitat Malawi. Together we will change the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children forever. Learn how support from across Ireland is changing lives in Malawi here.
Habitat's Big Build is taking place in Malawi's capital, Lilongwe where over 76% of the population live in slums. In 1 week, we will build 10 homes, supporting our Orphaned and Vulnerable children programme.
Work will take place over, World Habitat Day. As we raise our hammers, we also raise our voices with the global Habitat family about the urgent, growing need for safe shelter.
